Lavender soap benefits

the benefits of lavender in a soap

Lavender soap benefits! Lavender, or Lavandula angustifolia, is an evergreen woody shrub, up to 1 meter or yard tall, with green narrow leaves and violet blue flowers.

The reported therapeutic uses for this amazing essential oil include it being: an analgesic, anticonvulsive, antidepressant, antiphlogistic, antirheumatic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antiviral, bactericide, carminative, cholagogue, cicatrisant, cordial, cytophylactic, decongestant, deodorant, and as a diuretic.

Herbalists regard this floral essence as the most useful and versatile essential oil for therapeutic purposes. This essential oil is most commonly associated with burns and healing of the skin. It also has antiseptic and analgesic properties which will ease the pain of a burn and prevent infection. It also has cytophylactic properties that promote rapid healing and help reduce scarring. The lavender soap benefits are said to have a calming effect on the body and it can be used to reduce anxiety, stress and promote sleep. Bulgarian varieties are a very therapeutic grade comparable in status to the better known French variety. The different soil, temperature, precipitation, etc. contributes to some subtle changes in scent, the greatest advantage being for more sophisticated label claims.

lavender soap benefits There are dozens of types of lavenders, with varying scents or notes. I usually prefer the Bulgarian plants with its strong and rich floral scent. The French version is just as floral, but with a weaker scent. A blend of numerous varities is entitled 40/42, is good and strong as well, and sometimes considered a little less stronger and more camphoraceous than the Bulgarian version. The therapeutic lavender soap benefits are basically the same for all lavendula agustafolia types.

With soap making, some of the essential oils that this beautifully scented oil blends well with are bay, bergamot, chamomile, citronella, clary sage, geranium, jasmine, lemon, mandarin, orange, palmarosa, patchouli, pine, tangerine, thyme, rosemary, rosewood, and ylang ylang.

Generally considered non toxic, a non irritant and non sensitizing, but it is still not recommended for pregnant women.
