Neroli essential oil uses

created from the flowers of the orange blossom and very versatile

Neroli essential oil uses and benefits originate from the flowers of the bitter orange tree. One pound, or 16 ounces, of oil is derived from approximately 1000 lbs of orange blossoms. This oil is extracted by steam distillation.

One of the safest essential oils and known for being non-toxic, non-sensitizing, non-irritating and non-photo-toxic. Yet, the neroli essential oil uses include being well known for being relaxing, and can relieve anxiety, depression, fear, shock and stress. It's calming benefits can include soothing the digestive tract, intestinal spasms, colitis and diarrhea.

Other therapeutic benefits include alleviating insomnia, treating heart palpitations, headaches, neuralgia and vertigo. Reported to also have the ability to act as a bactericidal, deodorant and emollient.

This essential oil is kind to your skin as well. By regenerating skin cells and useful in preventing scar tissue, promoting a smoother skin texture, lessening stretch marks and broken capillaries.

It's smell is often described as being exquisite, and although it is one of the more expensive essential oils, a little of it can go a long way. When buying, because of this oils natural scent being strong, many suppliers dilute this oil. Even diluted, it still gives off a nice strong smell.

Here is a recipe for a massage blend known to help lessen high blood pressure:

  • In 1 oz of carrier oil:
  • 3 drops of neroli
  • 3 drops of celery
  • 4 drops of rose
  • If you don't have the celery and rose, still give this recipe a try. For a carrier oil, any vegetable oil will do. A lot of massage blends suggest grape seed oil, but this oil does absorb quickly. A larger molecule oil such as olive will give you more massage time before adding more oil.

A lesser expensive option to neroli essential oil, is another essential oil that is derived from the leaves and twigs of the very same tree. This oil is called Petitgrain, and it carries some, if not all, of the same wonderful healing qualities as Neroli.

Add Neroli essential oil uses to coconut oil for more health benefits.

Neroli blends very well with Ylang ylang, read more here.
